
STUDENT LIFE IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Hours
In our Primary School, students in Grade 1 and above arrive in the tented area in front of the school from 6.45 a.m. onwards. They remain here until collected by the class teachers at 7.00 a.m. Preschool 3, 4 and Kindergarten students wait in the established waiting rooms near each of the classroom areas. School begins at 7.00 a.m. prompt with morning registration; children may not enter the classroom until this time. The School day ends at 2.00p.m. for Kindergarten through Grade 5 students and at 12:00 for Preschool 3 and 4 students.
Food
During the day there are morning and lunch breaks for the students in Kindergarten classes through Grade 5. Lunch is provided in the cafeteria building. The Preschool 3 and 4 students have a morning snack break during their daily schedule. The morning snack is served for all students in their classrooms. The aim is to provide the children with a well balanced, nutritional diet and a dietician is employed to oversee this.
Class Schedules
The children are organized into classes based on their age and are looked after by a classroom teacher and assistant teacher. The daily schedule consists of a balance of academic subjects e.g. mathematics, reading, writing etc and specialist activities which include Music, Physical Education instruction, Arabic, Integrated Technology, Art and Library. In addition to the class and specialist teachers the school also has ESL teachers, a Resource teacher and Counselor.
Activities
There are monthly assemblies for the children in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Many special activities are scheduled throughout the school year e.g. read-a-thon, concerts etc. and exhibitions such as the Grade 5 PYP exhibition and the Primary art exhibition. Many activities are held in conjunction with our very active PTA committee. The Primary musical and talent show are always the highlight of the year. After school activities are provided each term for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 these may include Girl Scouts, Photography, Computer, Ice Skating etc. The Primary School also has a very active student council.
The students are all active participants in their learning during the school day and we are continually encouraging our students to be confident, independent and curious learners.

STUDENT LIFE IN THE SENIOR SCHOOL
Hours
The Senior School student's day starts at 7.10 a.m. with homeroom where attendance is taken. Classes start at 7.25 a.m. and school ends at 2.20 p.m. After school activities start at 2.30 p.m. and finish at 3.30 p.m.
Food
There is a morning break of twenty minutes from 9.20 a.m. to 9.40 a.m. and lunch is from 11.40 a.m. until 12.20 p.m. Lunch is provided in the cafeteria building. The aim is to provide the children with a well-balanced, nutritional diet and a dietician is employed to oversee this.
Class Schedules
Students take an array of subjects: sciences, mathematics, humanities, modern languages, english, performing and visual arts, information and design technology and physical education.
Students daily life is enriched by having access to the most modern facilities including:
- nine fully equipped science labs filled with high quality scientific equipment ;
- three complete computer labs and two resource labs available for individual classroom use;
- a library that fully supports the curriculum in all subjects, also the library has an extensive range of fictional and non-fictional books for recreational reading;
- art studios for ceramics, graphics, painting an drawing;
- design technology labs using the latest CAD/CAM hardware software;
- art media lab to create and produce artifacts using the latest in production software and technology.
Activities
There are many opportunities for students to exhibit their athletic talents as we offer a multitude of sports from football and volleyball to track and field and table tennis. Beyond sports, there are clubs as diverse as the Model United Nations or Calligraphy. Students are also encouraged to become involved in one of the community social service projects the school organizes. Throughout the year, there are regularly scheduled assemblies for different grade levels designed to celebrate excellence, to inform, entertain, and enliven the school community.
A student's day at the academy is filled with challenging academic work and enriching after school programs.
