ABOUT QATAR ACADEMY

The striking architecture of Qatar Academy buildings on the outside is matched on the inside with spacious classrooms, natural light and a sense of openness everywhere. 

The Academy has the most advanced up-to-date facilities of any school in the country and competes with the very best in the world.

Library
The Qatar Academy Library/Media Center (L/MC) includes the following libraries/units:

• Senior School  
• Primary School                                                                                
• Early Childhood Education
• Multimedia Center Labs

The combined collections are approximately 50,000 titles in a variety of formats and languages which support the information and curriculum needs of the entire Qatar Academy.  The L/MC subscribes to a significant number of print journals as well as electronic resources in both journal and database format.

Science Labs
The science department is equipped with:

• six science labs used for Grades 6-12;
• two labs which are used solely for Grade 12;
• each lab is fitted with two networked computers and at least one fume cupboard;
• a data-logging room is equipped which has six networked computers to perform experiments with probes;
• a darkroom for light and photography experiments and teacher workspace between classes.

IT Teaching Labs
The Senior School IT department is equipped with:

• two IT subject specific teaching labs;
• two sign-up computer labs for any other curriculum or teacher;  
• all labs have 22 computers;
• the computers are installed with the most up to date software.

The Primary School IT department has:

• three computer rooms each having 22 computers;
• technology tools for teaching and learning include; digital cameras, scanners and a video camera; 
• several new Interactive whiteboards.

Performing Arts
The Performing Arts department focuses on two areas of study:                        

Music - solo and group instruction is provided on classroom percussion instruments, keyboards, and the drum kit.

Drama -allows students to acquire basic theater skills in improvisation, mime, the use of the voice, and script interpretation.

Auditorium
The well tiered auditorium, with a fully-appointed stage has seating for an audience of approximately 250. With perfect acoustics and excellent sight lines, the auditorium provides an inviting setting for Qatar Academy events of all types.

Sports
The Academy has excellent facilities for the range of sports offered through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

• Olympic standard 50m swimming pool, complete with the latest electronic timing and scoreboard facilities and two training pools;
• multi purpose sports complex;
• tennis and squash rackets  courts;
• weight training suite;
• running track;
• football pitch.

Cafeteria
Lunch is taken in the purpose built cafeteria for students and staff.  The cafeteria provides a varied menu to ensure the students receive a balanced and nutritional meal.
