Wizard of Oz at Qatar Academy
It is an undisputed fact that The Wizard of Oz is, and always will be one of the greatest musicals for pleasing audiences. We at Qatar Academy hope our performance was no exception. The Wizard of Oz is a story of a young girl who arrives in a strange land, and with the help of the many varied characters she meets along the way, takes a journey that broadens her experiences, and helps her learn more about herself and others. The Wizard of Oz introduced the fabulously memorable characters which we have all grown to love. Whether the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman or Dorothy, each character learns that if they look inside themselves, they will find what they need.The Qatar Academy version of The Wizard of Oz involved students from all of the senior school, in grade levels six to twelve. We had over 75 students working on the various parts of the show, both onstage, and behind the scenes. They created scenery, made posters, sold tickets, did hair and makeup, and so much more! We had lots of fun doing it!
